From National Museum With Art
6:55 AMNational Museum's entrance is free for the whole month of May. Yes, you read it right. So, whether you're into arts, a self-proclaimed museumgoer or just into free stuff, head on to National Museum and enjoy the perk of learning some history through the visual masterpieces displayed there.
I had the chance to visit the museum with a friend and it was such an eye-opening day for us. Both of us had been immersed to arts since God knows when. Hearing this great news was like an opportunity for us, so we grabbed it while it's free.
Located in the heart of Metro Manila, National Museum stands proud in front of the bustling streets of Ermita. It's like a piece of Greece placed somewhere in between the grits of the city.
I love the European lofty feel when you get inside the museum. Everything's so opulent it doesn't even look like a museum. I feel like I have entered a five-star hotel somewhere in Paris.
We were first greeted by this angel statue. And once inside, the colossal painting of Spoliarium, made by our very own national painter, Juan Luna will basically leave your mouth open. You can still see some of the brush strokes like it's still fresh.
The entirety of National Museum seemed impossible to peruse within a day because of the enormous number of galleries located inside. But I have collected some photographs which I took as we wander through each rooms. The galleries include works from famous artists like Juan Luna and Fernando Amorsolo.
Here are some of the sculptures:
Save me.
Here are some of the paintings:
The somber in her eyes though.
I guess we can include her in the league of girls with a resting b- face. Just kidding.
And my personal favorites, the sculpture of Juan Luna and the Andalucian Girl painting. I love the sculpture because the details are exquisite. It almost ensembles the real face of Juan Luna while the Andalucian Girl was painted in a very romantic way. You can feel the emotions of the one who painted it. He was clearly mesmerized by her beauty.
I would like everyone to visit National Museum because I think everyone should recognize how talented these people are. And that maybe they'll give you a reason to love art. That maybe next time you see a painting hanging on a wall, you'll be able to give it a second glance or maybe a subjective perception of why it was painted that way.
Give it a try guys. You have the whole month of May to think about visiting it. Or don't think about it at all. Just go. You'll love it, I assure you. It's time to get in touch with your creative side.
