Fig Restaurant Bar: Tastes of Mediterranean
11:17 PM
"Minestrone Bianca", a popular Fig dish.
Fig Restaraunt + Bar is a Mediterranean-influenced restaurant nestled in the heart of the bustling streets of Makati City. With a wide variety of delightful delicacies from different countries, I was in for a good treat.
As you get inside the restaurant, you'll easily notice how well-lit the place is. With natural light coming from their tall windows, the ambiance is set to invite you. I love how the place looks so high-end from the artworks hanging on the pearl-white coated walls to the kaleidoscopic glasses meticulously displayed on the bar. The addition of live plants made it more homey and cozy that would make you really want to stay longer.
The second floor is equally classy. I love the fact that the owner chose all the things displayed in the restaurant. It just shows that her style is always chic and on point.
As we waited for our dishes to be served, we had the opportunity to watch their chef whip out a pizza for us. The knots on their pizzas are so adorable. With a signature style like this, Fig already stands out among their competition. Moreover, the way they make pizzas fascinate me. It's intricate and delicate at the same time.
The vibe just exudes this European appeal to me.
Their menus are separated based on the course of the meal. Isn't that thoughtful?
We ordered lots of food. I was a little on the fence with eating too much food, but the aroma of the food just entices you to devour everything. We first ordered the Vegetarian Pizza. Honestly, this is the first time I tried out a vegetarian pizza. I am a big fan of meat, so trying this one is a little iffy to me. However, once I have taken a bite of this pizza, I was amazed how delicious it was. The pesto base added this pinch of spice while the olives and zucchini balanced it all out. I didn't almost notice the absence of meat. It was that good!
Then, they served Lamb Pizza, my pizza of choice. The taste of the meat was overpowering the other ingredients in the best possible way. I ate two slices in a row, then ate another two after giving my tummy a little break. So far, everything I have tasted were delicious.
We had Grilled Cheese in between big meals to cleanse off our palettes. This tasted sweeter than what our usual cheese tastes like, which I found so delectable.
We then quenched our thirst off with this tangy Limonana, a mint lemonade.
And of course, my favorite part of every meal, the dessert. In this case, we had three different desserts. I was in heaven that afternoon. It wouldn't get any better than that.
First dessert that's served was Caramelized Lemon Tart with Blueberry Rosemary Compote. What I like about Fig is that everything's instagram-worthy. Every angle and every dish is worthy of a social media share.
The Shiraz Sorbet was delivered shortly after we finished the tart. You think that this sweet-looking sorbet would taste sweet but it actually tasted strong. I haven't tried wine-flavored ice cream and it was so damn good. I ate everything within a few minutes.
We had Cardamom Scented Panna Cotta with Beetroot Sponge, Date Puree, Peanut Croquant last. The plating of this dessert is comparable to a high-end foreign restaurant. You can see the effort of the staff to give the best experience to their patrons. This is my favorite out of the three desserts. It's so soft that it almost melts inside your mouth within a few seconds. It's not too sweet for a dessert which is very surprising.
Fig should definitely be in everyone's must-try restaurants in the Metro. Fig gives you a five-star experience with a very affordable price. Fig offers good food with good interior, what more can you as for? If you want a classy hangout spot with a food to match, head to Fig Restaurant + Bar.
