The Grandeur of Taoist Temple

12:00 PM

We went to a lot of places and gambled a lot of time roaming around Cebu City and Mactan Island. It was 4pm when we reached the Taoist Temple located in Lahug. It was a long drive. The roads we took felt like we were going to some highlands in Antipolo City.

We were welcomed by this grand gate with such intricate details. I have always loved how Chinese architecture still stick to its roots though it has flourished and grew through time. You can still recognize the same influence from some past era engraved through modern infrastructures. And don't even get me started on their color palette choices. Its always bright and vivid which brings more life and vibrancy.

There were a few do's and dont's when going inside the temple. Like for an instance, you can't take a picture of the interiors. And also, you can't make noise to keep the solemnity of the place (of which I understand completely, by the way.) There were a few men going around the temple to observe these policies while some of them were busy grooming the grass or cleaning the place.

I was just used to seeing this temple in pictures, but still, it has exceeded all of my expectations. All the time I was there I felt like I was in a trance. It was such an out of body experience. Just even for that short period of time, I felt like I found some peace from all the hustle and bustle of Metro Cebu. I wouldn't mind spending the whole afternoon here but of course our time was limited. But this spot will be in my list of "where-to-go-when-in-Cebu".
