Laid-back Afternoon at Loboc River
8:15 PM
It was a very humid afternoon. We just got off from an hour ride from Cebu City via Oceanjet Ferry. The ride was so bumpy and the waves were so high (like a single-storey high, no exaggeration), have caused some of the passengers to vomit non-stop.The typhoon in Luzon was somehow affecting the winds, as what the captain said. I remembered one passenger who was begging the attendants to stop the ferry, but there's no way in hell we would stop in the middle of nowhere.I was laughing the whole way through, but honestly, I thought I was gonna be seasick. I will admit that now.
I thought It was such a memorable ride for me, not only because of that ordeal, but because it was my first ferry ride in the Visayas Region. However, I swore to never ride a ferry again, well, with that kind of weather condition.

As we were docking on the port, I've seen a lot of Filipino tour guides awaiting for the arrival of their foreign tourists. Luckily, our friends were there first and they have a van already waiting for us at the terminal. We arrived at Bohol Port during noontime. It was so hot, we decided to try out Loboc River Cruise to cool off and have lunch. Loboc River is one of the many things that makes Bohol popular.
The place was not packed with a lot of people when we arrived. The entrance was filled with lined up stalls selling souvenirs shirts and key chains. We then purchased tickets costing 500 pesos. I know it's a little pricey, but some things are just worth the value.
We didn't wait too long for the boat to arrive. As we stepped inside, first thing I said was that it was a feast for my eyes. My eyes were so focused on the buffet which was meticulously arranged in the center of the boat. As I roamed, I noticed that float was just simple, nothing extravagant. The roof was filled with colorful umbrellas that added a little life to it. I understood the reason why the float was simple, it's because they want people to focus more on the food, the entertainment and the sight rather than some fancy ride.
The cruise started with a local band playing lively music to pick up everyone's energy. I was fidgeting as I first tried to walk around to capture the scenery. Everything was picture perfect. Click after click, I have captured photos that are worth posting. The place was not packed with a lot of people when we arrived. We stopped by some kids singing and dancing to songs I barely knew but still, it has managed to put a smile on my weary face.
I can't remember a moment so far this year that has astounded me like this. I was really digging the quiet after all. The lush greens and the clear blue skies made me forget I was tired. I just stood there in awe of our God's creation. Then, it made me think if the people living here would ever want to leave this kind of view for a shot at living in the city. That's one sad fact about life.
I live for colors like these!
Makes me miss being a kid.
At the end of the cruise, I have realized that I really enjoyed that laid-back kind of afternoon. Connecting my soul back to nature was what I really needed that moment. Some intervention that would slow down our fast-paced trip. I would not mind riding this often if I was living here. Maybe this could be my hideaway from all the things I am escaping from or my secret getaway whenever I just wanna be alone in serenity.
I would really recommend this to everyone who's ever planning of going to Bohol. It might be a short ride but it sure is worth it.
