Bohol, Beyond the Hills
7:30 PM
Philippine Tarsier, scientifically known as Carlito Syrichta, is from the family of primates. It only grows from 85 to 160mm, making it one of the smallest from its kind.
They are said to be shy but territorial so they are a metres away from each other. We only saw four that day but they said there are still a lot around the sanctuary. We were not allowed to make noise because they might get too scared and commit suicide. It happens, unfortunately. They also serve as preys to some stray cats so they are monitored religiously by the caretakers. Those poor things.
As we were trailing down and up the slopes of the forest, I managed to took pictures of tarsiers. Most of them are so good in hiding and camouflaging their tiny and fragile bodies, it took some hardcore squatting just to get some usable shots.
So cute yet so freaky.
With gorgeous butterflies come equally gorgeous flowers. I did not hesitate in taking photos of them, as well.
A butterfly in flight. Can you get more perfect?
Mating butterflies. Cos even insects have a better lovelife than me.
Bohol is definitely warming up on me. I thought it was gonna be a little boring but it wasn't at all. It has more to offer than the postcard-perfect Chocolate Hills. It's definitely worth discovering. I had fun with the people we've met along the tour and the places we have visited so far. This day turned out to be more inclined with nature than of the city and I'm not mad about it. It's actually refreshing to see a different side of what I was usually used to seeing.
