Holy Week Getaway: Reflecting at Regina Rica

Holy Week is the time to repent and reflect. Some people go to beaches to spend their holy week but my family's tradition has always been like this, doing Visita Iglesia. And this year we chose to first visit Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia or Regina Rica in the highlands of Tanay, Rizal.
Almost a two-hour drive away from Manila, Regina Rica sits on top of a mountain overlooking the vast lands of Rizal. It's perfectly situated in a serene place, away from all the noises of the thriving communities.
It has a massive statue of Mary and Child Jesus. The interesting part is that its actually the shelter for the prayer rooms. Quite cool, I must admit. Unfortunately, cameras are prohibited inside to preserve the solemnity of the place. Before you enter the quiet prayer rooms, you will be briefed by the nun about the do's and dont's when inside the vicinity.
It also houses herds of sheep and rams alongside other animals like cows and fowls. I've also seen a lot of different species of flowers, too. I was secretly taking pictures of it as we walk up to the church. There are also cottages where you can eat together with your family in the comfort of nature's pure peacefulness.
I pondered on a lot of things as I was walking down the slopes of Regina Rica. I thought about my career and if its really what I wanted to do for a long time. Have I found my niche or am I still in the dark of what I really wanted to become? Do I need to settle for anything less than what I have now or should I strive harder to gain what I've been dreaming for my whole life? Can I really do blogging? (and yes, the answer is of course, I can.)
I love going to Regina Rica. It's perfect not only for the Holy Week, but also for any moment you just need time for God. I just hope it wouldn't turn into those overly-commercialized spots. I want this place to maintain its holiness. That whenever you go here, you'll find solace. If you ever find yourself sad and helpless you can go here and find some peace of mind. I want it to remain like that.
